ADVOC Dispute Resolution Conference 2025, Singapore

On 27 August 2025, ADVOC and Joseph Tan Jude Benny (JTJB) co-hosted the ADVOC Dispute Resolution Conference at the Conrad Singapore Marina Bay. The conference gathered in-house counsel, legal practitioners, and members of the ADVOC network across Asia-Pacific for a morning of dialogue on emerging trends and challenges in dispute resolution.

The event opened with a Welcome Address by Mr. Michael Lanyon, Partner at Colin Biggers & Paisley and President of ADVOC’s Asian Chapter, who emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation within the ADVOC network. This was followed by a Keynote Speech from Guest of Honor, Mdm Rahayu Mahzam, Minister of State for the Ministry of Digital Development and Information & Ministry of Health, Singapore, who highlighted Singapore’s digital inclusivity initiatives and the broader role of governance in dispute resolution.

Three panel sessions formed the core of the programme: 

  • ESG Litigation and Trends – moderated by John Sze (JTJB), with Brian Foong (Cheang & Ariff), Violet Chen (Shanghai United Law Firm), and Nobutaka Nonaka (AZ MORE International Law Firm).
  • Comparative Discussions on Asset Preservation and Injunctive Relief in Insolvency Situations – moderated by Jolene Tan (JTJB), with Naiyachon Tathong (JTJB International Lawyers), Tom Darbyshire (McWilliams Davis Lawyers), and Ellyn Tan (Forvis Mazars).
  • Cross-Cultural Issues in Alternative Dispute Resolution – moderated by K. Murali Pany (JTJB), with Yeo Boon Tat (JTJB), He Junming (Shanghai United Law Firm), and Jonathan Newby (Colin Biggers & Paisley).

The conference concluded with Closing Remarks by Mr. John Sze, Managing Partner of Joseph Tan Jude Benny LLP, followed by a networking lunch that provided further opportunities for exchange among members and attendees.
